This was commissioned by one of our members. The SST-50 is a 6500K driven by an 18650 through a three-level 7135 sandwich at about .6, 1.2 and 3.2 amps.

The emitter was reflowed onto a copper slug that is embedded about half an inch into the aluminum heat sink. No worries here about getting the heat away from the LED.

The heat sink is a very tight press fit into the body. Both surfaces are very smoothly machined to insure good contact.

A ring contacts the flat base of the reflector to position the emitter properly. This also has the advantage of getting some heat into the reflector, from which it conducts to the head.

To Jeff: Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make this one. I really enjoy it when a project comes together well!

To Nasty: First, I assume that you're called "Nasty" for the same reason that a big guy I once knew was called "Tiny."

Jeff's new light falls in between these two in power. The beams are very similar - a small spot with well-defined and much dimmer but very useful spill.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to add a third Stubby Mag to my collection, this time built to my specifications. Amazing work, especially considering we just spec'd out the light Wednesday night! :twothumbs

I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A CHUBBY IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE? ARE THEIR ANY WITH TRIPLE XPG?

Stubby received. WOW. Just WOW. Another beautiful machining job and it fits the hand perfectly. The body grooves feel slightly deeper and are pitched a bit finer than my other two Stubbies -- no problem hanging onto the light, even in a downpour. The narrow fins on the head look great and ought to dissipate heat efficiently. IMHO, you just can't beat pewter for appearance in a grooved light.

And the beam -- as Mrs. JeffN said, "It's really white!" It's a great shade without being too white. Just did some outdoor throw comparisons to the XP-G R4 1C Stubby and another 1C build with a DSWOI P7. This light throws tighter and brighter, and therefore farther. Looking into the barrel, there shouldn't be any problem using a small spacer to fit one of AW's old C cells for long life even at full power.

David, thank you for this great build.:clap::bow::bow:
