The emitter is 0.5mm smaller on each side than an XP-G. The footprint is the same though - 2 electrical pads on each side and 1 thermal pad in the middle. If you have solder paste, you can apply a very light coating to the 3 pads on the star and as long as you position the emitter dead-center it will reflow. The solder has a tendency to pull the emitter off-center but you can nudge it with some tweezers to float it back.

I'd say out of 15 SSL's reflowed on XP-G boards, 12 have worked. The key seemed to be a very light layer of solder.
