Step up or step down? Which board? Please Help!!!

I need help with choosing a board. I have a 1w Royal Blue Luxeon star LED. Part number LXHL-MRRD, from theledlight.com. It will be driven with a single 123 cell. I don't know what board to get. Do I need a step up board or a step down board. I'm pretty lost. Please help. Thank you!

If you're doing a single 123, I'd just get a Wiz2 or similar board which can step up OR down, depending on requirements. Here, you don't need the step up for the most part but a step-down won't work well for you either, IIRC.

If you plan on using it exclusively with 1x123 primary cr123, a nexgen bb is the best choice. A wiz2 will give you the option of using 2x123 if you ever need to.

If you're using primaries only, a BB has the advantage of a lower cutoff than the wiz2 so you will be able to maximize the battery more.
