Hi Guys: I just received my SS Baltic HP with a tail switch. It is a great looking light, but unfortunately the momentary switch sticks when depressed keeping the light on. The only way it works properly is if you barely depress the end. If a harder force is used the plunger stays engaged. I have examined the switch and I see that the brass contact piece is recessed inside the foam plug. Could this be what is binding the plunger? Would cutting a larger hole in the foam help? Any insight for a fix would be appreciated. Also, should the beam be pretty ringy in nature? The light came with the tail switch installed but no separate end piece if I chose not to use the tail switch. Is this correct or did they forget to send one? Thanks! Dave

I have 2 Baltics and several other peaks- unfortunately no experience with their momentary swith. On my Baltics- key chain post attatchment, I see that when I remove the post that there is a brass screw that has a internal depressable contact point that touches the negative batt. contact. That may be sticky and is causing the problem or you may need to adjust the screw contact depth set (see picture from MWClint's Sticky/PEAK CD). MWClint prob would know because he has modded several lights. You may see if you can remove the switch if you are comforable doing so and clean/lube it.

i'd first try to re-oil it..the lube is probably a little dry and not sliding past the internal
oring. a drop or two of your favorite lube will work fine. then spin and press
the button around a few times to spread it around

if that doesnt work, there might be some grit in the switch, you can do the
old standby(works for bearings) and let the switch soak in some wd-40..play
with it, while it's in the wd-40..twist the button and press it, etc. it should
work loose after a couple minutes. then wipe it down with some rubbing
alcohol and re-oil.

the switch is easy to remove..sometimes you can just twist the base by
hand, or if it feels stuck, a small wrench will do it.

Rage Cage: Thank you for your help and he pics...very helpful.

MW Clint: I will try your suggestions. It seems there is a metal click sound when I press the switch firmly. Hopefully the cleaning, manipulation and re-lubing will work. Thanks! Dave

No problem- Jedi Mod Master MWClint pulled the pics from the PEAK CD (I think that is where he got them from) and made that wonderful sticky at the top of this page. The metal click sounds like it may be grit/or a miniscule shaving that worked it's way into the switch- the WD 40 soak and working the switch repeatedly should help free it up.
