Sticky for Basic LED Knowledge

I am not a newbie but I am continually amazed at the breadth of knowledge many members here have about LED's. Name brands, acronyms, various units of brightness, et cetera can leave the less experienced among us a bit confused. Perhaps a sticky post could be started that would include all the basics "For those New to LED's."

This is the post I was always looking for, and found it about a week ago.. Is there some reason this can't be changed to the FAQ for the site, that can be added on to?

As charming as it is, finding this post called "The Welcome Mat" when you don't know what you're looking for is impossible. It took me an hour just to find it again, when I knew what I was looking for, even when I was searching on phrases that I knew were in it. So much for Google's superior search..
