I've selled my Ultrastinger to a friend, with a fresh new battery, original from Streamlight. (Nicd 6V, 1800mAh)

He asked to me if he can leave the flashlight for months or 1 year without using it, and if the battery will be damaged from non-use.

I know Nicd are better for lon term storage than Nimh, but 1 year seems to me a little too long period.

With time, the battery will self-discharge, and after a long period resting like that, does the battery recover full capacity after recharging ?

Maybe it will need some charge-discharge cycle.

Right.

and its probably better to leave it more discharged , and slightly cooler for a long term storage.
there are ni-cds here Many many years old, and they still work ok, but they go flat in storage, and are sometimes hard to KICK back into taking a charge.
