Hello,

I plan to buy that cute little Key-Mate.

As anybody will know, that alkaline-batteries die slowly, voltage will gradually decrease. And so will the output do!

What I want to know is: is there any resistor in series with the LED, or does this "system" totally rely on the internal resistance of the four button-cells?

In order to fight the gradually decreasing voltage, I want to replace those four button-cells with a V28PXL 6V Lithium-battery, or, even better in stability (but not in shelf life) a V28PX silver-oxide battery. These ones really have a constant output!

BUT: due to the lower internal resistance, these batteries could blow the LED if there's no series resistor.

I hope anybody knows, or can see this in his/her own light....

Thanks in advance,

Timmo.

No resistor, at least not in the older ones. This little light was a nice 'sleeper' for brightness in a small size, but time has caught up with them and there are others that are much brighter and fairly cheap.

It is still a decent light, very tough, small and dependable. At one time we were replacing the LEDs with upgrades like the MJLED, but SL has been pretty good in using current LEDs, so I would guess that it has a decent one installed.

It is good as a key chain light to be used occasionally for short bursts of time, not good to be used as a 'flashlight.'
