I modded a Streamlight Twin Task to take a cree drop-in a while back. Super bright and I love the side clickie. It was a lot of work as I had to separate the front circuit board from the rear one, change the rear one to make the switch ON/OFF instead of ON(High)/ON(Low)/OFF, turn out an aluminum collar for heat sinking and a few other things.
I was wondering if anyone had modded the Streamlight Task Light 2L3W to a cree and what was the procedure? I don't own one and since they're not cheap I wondered if the inside dimensions and circuit board configurations are the same as the Twin Task. If so, I can't see any use in doing all the work on the 2L3W as I did on the Twin Task since the Task Light is twice as expensive.
Anyone have both that would be willing to disassemble them to see the difference? I'm thinking they're the same except for the circuit design to handle the 3W LED.
