Are there any bulb upgrades for the Strion? Brightness is not as important as whiteness. the factory bulb is on the yellow side compared to the Lumens Factory bulbs and even Surefire bulbs. Also how do you tell when the battery is charged? Does the red led on the charger blink or go out?

Regarding a bulb upgrade, I know nothing about that. That doesn't mean it isn't out there, I just don't know.

However, with respect to the charger, the flashlight is fully charged when the red LED flashes in regular intervals. Before it is fully charged, it will blink in non-regular intervals.

Nope. There's sopmething wrong with your charger.

Steady LED=charging
Blinking LED=charge completed.

Normally, the STrion puts out a nice whiote light. I'd check your bulb, as I've had some Strion bulbs blacken or discolor over time.

My strion charger starts out steady and at some point starts the irregular blinking which continues for a while and then goes to the steady blink mode. I thought that the irregular blinking indicated that the carger was "topping off" the battery. I wish it was whiter also.

My Stinger's charger does exactly what you said, but the Strion is different.

Interesting that you mention blackening or discoloration of the bulb. Maybe I'll check that out. I'm still using my original bulb from when I bought this light a few years ago. Gotta love those guilt free lumens :p

Incandescent bulbs have a tendancey to turn yellow over time. Try a new bulb if you find your beam is extreamly yellow. A new strion bulb is not as white as a new surefire bulb.
as for the charger ( straight from the strions instruction manual):
LED CHARGE INDICATOR:
■
With the Strion light inserted properly the LED on the charger should light, indicating
proper charge path. It may take a second or two for the LED to light when the Strion
first inserted.

■
Charging...LED is steady.

■
Charged...LED pulses shortly every second.

■
Charge time is approximately 2.5 hours.

IMPORTANT
:
Charging temperature is between 20°F and 115°F. A safety circuit prevents
charge outside that range.

■
Temperatures outside this range may also cause the charge indicator to temporarily
function abnormally.

■
It is normal for the indicator to switch between steady and blink as the battery is
"topped off."

■
There is no danger of overcharge. The Strion is designed to be in the charger
continuously when not in use.
