Strion LED first impression. Noisy circuit?

Hello I just received my new Strion Led. I have been using it for the last 4 night shifts while on patrol. I love the brightness and the clickie. I also own a Pelican 7060 and I must say that the Strion is a bit brighter and has more spill. It is also brighter than my SL Tl-2 C4. One thing I noticed about the Strion is that the light makes a high pitched noise when on. I called SL and they told me to send it in. I first went to a local shop and a Strion LED there also made the same noise. The noise is louder when a the battery is freshly charged and quiets down with the lower intensities. Does any one have this same noise coming from theirs? It is not very loud but can be easily heard. That would be my only complaint with this light.

Mine has a buzz when I put it upto my ear, but it hasn't effected the light in any way...

That's the inductor on the circuit vibrating, which creates that high pitched sound. Nothing wrong with the light.

I haven't fully made up my mind whether "whining" inductors are just a fact of certain circuits, certain light models (and certain units of that model), or certain users whose ears can pick up the noise.

Well in a tactical situation the actual brightness of the light will draw more attention to your location than the whine. But I have noticed it while on the field. It is very similar to the high pitch noise made by the charger. At first I thought maybe Cree leds made that noise but my 7060 doesn't. Either way I am NOT going to waste time by sending it to SL since other peoples Strion seem to do the same thing. Do not let the noise thing deter anyone from buying this light. Its A+++++. Now it seems that my 7060 will get little use. I will mostly use it when I need a light that can be tucked under my armpit, to give tickets out and keep my strong hand free. Or when I need a light big enough to smack someone with it if needed.

I just checked my Strion LED and there's no whine on low or high mode. On medium mode there is a barely noticeable whine and it can only be heard if the flashlight is pressed directly to my ear.
I however do not like the cool tint. Anybody know if this flashlight can be modified with a warmer tinted LED?

Thanks.

Not to change topics completely, but the led in my strion is not completely centered. Its not a huge deal, but it is noticable. Anybody else experience this?
