ok what last longer 2 aa alkiline bateerys or 1 123 litium? if ya can give times it would be vey cool

Probably the 2 AA's. They have a capacity of 2,565 mAh while the 123A only has 1300 mAh. I realize that the 123A is a lithium battery, but I still think that the 2 AA's would last longer.

stolen from Roy's runtime plots in the review section:

Now raggie ... tell me where this question is stupid? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

yes ... BUT this is a high-drain application, so the poor AAs cannot cope for too long. I do not know how this changes with converters that draw less current ... better ask someone who knows better than me ...

But 2 AA NiMH batteries of good capacity will easily outperform a 123a in high current draw situations (like the VIP on high).

I was actually wondering wether raggie had the VIP AA Body in mind when he posted the question

i was just wondering there so small but have very good runtime kinda cool if ya think about it.i have some good nimh 2

Mr. Bulk says that the VIP will run brighter and longer with 2 AA NiMH's, than a 123 cell, or 2 alkaline AA's.

Longer aswell!? That is good news!

2 NiMH AA batteries will destroy alkalines or a 123 lithium in high current devices. My Powerex 2200mAH NiMH AA cells last well over 2 hours closing in on 2.5 hours while alkalines ran about 1.5 hours.

Can't beat throwing them in a charger so there is no guilt with playing... err... using your lights.

2x2200maHr or better NiMHs will give around 90 minutes of runtime on HIGH on the VIP vs around 30 minutes for a 123.

At medium the runtime improvement won't be nearly as impressive since the current draw will be lower and the 123 will do a pretty decent job of giving its rated mAHrs.

Alkalines would be useless in the VIP on high - they can't sustain the high current draw.
