Until then, I live with it - the SRT3 head on the SRT5 body gives me everything I want in terms of multi-cell-type, multi-chemistry versatility.

Excuse my stupid question, but how does the SRT3 head on the SRT5 body give you anything extra compared to a plain SRT5 body? Haven't you just lost 200 lumens for nothing gained in cell versatility? I understand how it gains something later in this thread when you go and get custom extension tubes made, but in this point in the thread it doesn't seem like you've done that.

Interesting resurrected thread! Having both the V11R and finally recently got the SRT3 I greatly prefer the SRT3. My SRT3 is just brighter than my V11R and the SRT3 just has so many other features that the V11R does not have. I have found the output adjustment ring on my V11R to be cheap feeling. The ring on my SRT3 feels much better and seems to have more exact control over output. Run both lights off new AW 16340's.
