Isn't there a rechargeable solution available for the surefire 9p? Seems like it was 2 x pila 150s cells and what bulb?

Ideas?

I imagine 2 of AW's 17500 cells would fit, but please get a second opinion before ordering them. The nice thing is that li-ion cells don't suffer from as much voltage drop as CR123 primaries so if you're starting with a 3 cell light you normally don't have to change the bulb at all.

With a 2 cell it's a different story. New bulb etc...

I can confirm that two 17500s fit and work perfectly with the P90. I believe his cells also work with the P91, but I don't have one so can't confirm that.

bout halfway down the first page of the incandecent forum.

also in my sig.

in most cases, it will work, but using this setup for many cycles would eventually lead to a very high risk of rapid disassembly.... which, on a well built metal bodied light, becomes grenade like. imagine a tailcap shooting with the ooomf of a .22 caliber.

2x17500's will work great with the P90. If you want to step up to the P91, you are gonna have to add a cell extender and run 2x17670's at the very least.

Yes this works. I have used this setup for quite a while now.

For people who use rechargables on a regular basis and and want to run the high output bulbs (P91, E-09, H-09) but still want the option of using primaries, I have found the Leef bodies superb.

The best cell option for the P91 is two 18650's. You can use a Leef 2x18650 body for this and add Surefire bezel and tailcap.

If you want to keep a 9P size light use the Leef 2x18500's body. Two 18500's
will power up the P91 or E-09 just fine, will run the P90 and other similiar output bulbs longer than two 17500's. The Leef body will still allow you to use 3 CR123 primaries if you wish.

On my 9P w/a WE 9v d26 bulb the AW 17500's require two magnets stacked between the cells before the tailcap momentary switch would work reliably. I use an o-ring around the magnets to prevent shorting on the slim chance that they move.

For now, I am very satisfied with the 9P+P91+A19+(2)17670's. Output stays very close to "white" for a good long while...at least long enough for me between chargings, but I haven't done any runtimes on this setup. :)

Same here. The batteries are slightly shorter than 3x123, plus the positive contact spring on the WE LAs is shorter than SFs. As I recall, so is the Diglight/G&P's. Lumens Factory LAs have longer springs, and work without the magnets.
I don't mind using the magnets at all with protected cells, and prefer the WE D26, so that's the same setup I have in the Z3 that gets most of my use.

Well, I have a nice new strion (with rapid charger) now. I'm not into the funky magnet thing.

Maybe this will hold me until HDS releases their new light in 2008.
