I'm assuming the A2 would be able to handle a drop in a puddle or usage in a good rain storm, but let's assume that for whatever reason it does get wet inside. Are the "guts" enclosed with epoxies, etc? If not and those electronic componants get wet is the the light at risk of being damaged?

Ray,

I know that one of the things PK has worked on for the new electronics in the lumimax series is a conformal coating. This protects the circuits from moisture and other adverse environmental agents. To what extent the innards of the A2 are protected, I don't know. I do know that it is every intent to refine the A2 to the point that a drop in a puddle will not cause any problem. I believe the A2 is there. I think some of these lights are in the hands of the good guys who may be in the jungles around the planet.

PK once showed a photo of the electronics being developed with the electronics in a tub of water with the light on.

Now that you mention that, I do remember seeing that photo.

I used to work for a government contractor that made ceramic circuit boards for U.S. Navy ships. The final step in production was to have these coated with a thin layer of a latex-like plastic that was completely waterproof, thus protecting them from corrosion due to salt water, and just about anything else. It also electrically insulates them, preventing any kind of shorts. Just in case you were wondering...
