I had no plans to buy an E series light, but hanging around this forum isn't good for the wallet =)

Taking price into consideration, is the E2e worth $15 more then the E2? I realize it is hard annodized and has the pyrex lens, but I'm not sure if that's worth $15 to me...

Thanks!

Hi Brian-

I like to look at it this way... the HAIII finish will make for a longer lasting look and feel to the E2e, plus, it has the upgraded clip and the pyrex lens is a major plus if you intend on running the 60lu lamp for long durations. I personally don't find anything wrong with the lexan lens, but for durability and scratch resistance, it's very difficult to beat the pyrex. The $15 dollars is a minor price for what is in my opinion a major upgrade.

Shop around and check out the Cheers 'N' Jeers forums, and of course, Dealers' Corner here on CPF for some dealers.

I've got my E2e-Ha on order as we speak and I was in the same boat you are in now.
I like the clip attachement better on the E2e, the pyrex lens is a must and the HA finish is way better than a E2 in my opinion.

The Short PocketClip of the E2e is far superior to the long clip of the E2o or E2 - I've found it significantly more secure and have never had a short clip unclip itself like the way I lost one of my E2's.

In my view, SureFire were right to discontinue the E1 & E2 because I've been fighting hard for many of the Elite's feature since the E1 first came out. Hard Anodising with a coarser grip knurling, LockOut TailCap, Pyrex Lens, Anti-roll bezel 'hex' and the small clip.

The E2e-HA is the way to go in my opinion (which is based on carrying the E1, E2, E2e, E2e+KL1, E1e, E1e+KL1 and using them on a daily basis.

my thoughts exactly, it is worth the $15.

i have to disagree with al though, i find the short clip annoying at best. i have no idea how a long clip could be less secure than a short one, but whatever floats your kabob. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You must get the E2e-HA!!
not only the difference of pyrex lens, upgraded clip.
E2e also give a much better feeling in hand & appearance.
just imagine u get the best & never required to upgrade!
the extra $15 is that u must pay /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the short clip is much more stiff than my E2 clip
and the clip can easily be replace
i may think so /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

E2e! I can't agree with Size15s thoughts on the short clip. I find the long clip a plus for retention. I have had the E2e w/short clip come out of my pocket while riding a bike and dragging my deer out last fall(I found it because of the glowring I had in the lanyard). You can get the long clip from Surefire cust service for like 5$.

Thanks for all the replies! Originally I was only going to get a G2, but now I'm leaning towards the E2e. Almost a 2.5x jump in price, but it does seem to be a much better EDC and general purpose light.

And I'm starting to see the CPF way, I'm gonna get them both! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Does anyone have the part number of both the short and long clip?

I own the e1, e1e, e2, the e2e and I'm not going to quickly endorse the e2e. Your question is best answered by saying that it depends on what you want to do.

The e2e is great if you're planning on running the incan bulbs and nothing else. Pyrex is superior in light transmission, scratch resistance, thermal properties and all of the other things that have been mentioned but I use the e2 when using the kl1 attachment.

I find the perfectly round body of the e2 to be perfect, especially when used with the kl1. Other people don't find it to be a problem, (and I don't either) but we're looking for nirvana afterall.

Anytime you pick up the e1e or e2e, regardless of clip length, you have to orient the light in 'that' part of your hand so it's the most comfortable. Some people do it unconsciously but you never have that problem with the e2. Never.

Everytime you pick it up the light it's properly placed in your hand and all you have to do is instinctively hit the thumb piece. It fits the moment you pick it up. No muss and no fuss.

If you don't need the extras that pyrex offers, the E2 gets my vote. My stash has the e2e with MN-XX and the e2 with the kl1. I use the kl1 for almost 90% of my lighting needs and never have I felt slighted. It's a great general utility combination.

Here in Europe some dealers still sell the E2HA! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Funny this topic came up now. Tommarow I am going to the semi-local police supply shop. I am looking to buy an E2E, but I know retail stores around here tend to be out of date. So I figure they might only have the E2. From what I read I want to be sure: does the E2 not have a lock out tail cap? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

For whatever it's worth, I like the original E1 and E2. I carry the E1 with the KL1, and the E2, side by side in a "pouch," so accidental activation is not a problem. The hex feature is not important to me, and since I don't use the clips at all, I removed them. To date, I have not had any problems with the lexan lens (but I am not a "rough" user). Also, the lock-out tailcap adds a "tad" more length to the light, and since I want the smallest size possible, the original E versions work for me. BUT, your use and preferences are probably different, so pick what works for you--they're all great lights.

By the way, if you're thinking of getting two lights (E2/E2e and a G2), may I suggest the E2/E2e and one of SureFire's three cell lights (C3, M3, etc.) instead? That will give you a wider range of lighting power, from 60 lumens (E2/E2e), up to 200-225 lumens with the optional high output lamp for the three cell models. Very pricey, yes, but if you're a flashaholic, I don't think you'll regret it.

kodiak,

I don't think the last incarnation of the e2 came with the LOTC but others may be more enlightening.

Mine was purchased many months before production ceased. It didn't have the LOTC but I purchased it later as an accessory.
