Hi,
I received as a gift a used surefire flashlight, how can I find out what model it is?
It contains a blue rechargeable battery N
index.php
icd battery which doesn't work, with the extender it is equal to 4 123a batteries, without the extender it is equal to 2 123a batteries. I Included a pic below, the bulb is 6V
PS: If the bulb is 6v ans i use 123a batteries at 3 v each naturally than I can't use the extender(4*3=12volt), but only with 2 batteries (2*3=6volt)?

first off,:welcome:

Second, pics is not working

Surefire has two rechargeable battery packs available, the B90 and B65
The B90 battery pack is for surefire's line of rechargeable lights: 8NX, 8AX, 9AN, L7

if its slightly longer then its a B65 battery, which I think gives 6V

IIRC Surefire does make a extender for converting primary cell lights to rechargeable but I'm unsure of what it may be...other than G2 extenders...

Sounds like you have a KR1 or KR2 rechargeable conversion kit. These convert most SF 2 cell lights to NiCd. The extender is for use only with the rechargeable battery.

The kit should also include a charger with AC and DC power cords. We can't tell which 2 cell light you have without seeing a picture or a very detailed description.

A new B65 battery is about $20. For occasional use you will be better off using primary cells. For frequent use the added bulk of the longer light might be worth it.

Yep, IIRC the rechargeable battery is a 5 cell NiCd or NiMH (NiCD I think) so also 6 volts. It's just a lot longer, hence the extender.

All Surefire 2 cells are nominally 6 volts but drop under load to 4.4~5 volt depending on load, type and life of cells, ambient temperature and...
Rechargeable conversion batteries which work with 6 volt flashlights are made of 4 cells connected in series and in fact they are 4.8 volt NiCad

it is a 6R,
the batt (pic is not working) should be FOUR cells, easily to be seen

unfortunately the small cells are worthless, they simply offer not enough power (even when the light was top notch, 15 years back).
Better to use it with the CRs

The slightly larger pack of the 8X was much better
(and the 9N - then and now - is the best rechargeable incan offered by SF)
Their larger batt pack and light - at just slightly added size and wheight - offers the punch.

I would advise to mill the inside of the main body wider, to get an 18650 Li-Ion cell inside and use the 6P like this
(did it, mounted a Cree Led, its my primary light now. Be4 the 6P was a shelf queen - batts are very expensive here)

PS, right: 2 CR123 and no extender, 4 cell Ni-Cad pack with extender
