How's it going!
I just got a Surefire Z2 not too long ago and notice that the lube smells really good. Was wondering if anyone know what kind of lube they use? Can I get it at a store? What's the name?

Again, don't care if it's the best lube, just want to know the name and where I can get some if possible.

Appreciate it.

Maybe you like the smell of lithium batteries !? :poke:

I believe that the name of the lube that Surefire uses is Nyogel.

:welcome:

As per Surefire tech support it is Nyogel 760G.

Available at lighthound.com

edit to add: "Do a search"

no need to actually do a search. I just wrote it to beat the next guy

That's odd, my nyogel didn't smell good at all... Maybe I got a bad batch? Does lighthound give refunds based on smell, or do I actually have to taste it first?

That's almost certainly the smell of the batteries, we like to call it flashahol :) IIRC it's some ether like substance left over from manufacturing, that outgasses over time. Since it's contained inside a sealed flashlight tube it builds up enough to smell easily.

Ditto that. Nyogel has a very light, almost odorless smell.

:welcome:This is a hillarious thread topic. Just e-mail Surefire and ask them what lube they use and if it is indeed the lube that is the cause of the smell.
