Surefire M4 how far does it throw?

I've found old (archived) threads with M4 info on this board, but none of them mention how far the effective throw is. The one review with beam shots says "the image has been removed" Anybody got a current thread or opinion on this light?

The reason I'm asking is some are now available over at the Marketplace for a very good price.

Any Help, Appreciated

It all depends on how angry you are when you throw it!

On a more serious note I have a KT setup and a few MN60 LA and it is very bright. 100m no problem. The beam on fresh batteries is a thing of beauty.

If your looking at the one on BST going for $200 thats a smoking deal.

Mine will easily light up the fence row at the back of our property 100 yards away with the LOLA.

LOL

One of my mates down the road from me has a M4 which i want badly but he wont part with it, anyhow he was using it in his yard a while back and the bloody thing lit up the whole yard all the way to the chook pens which are about 200yards away:D.

Depends on ambient light conditions. SureFire officially states that the M4 can "[reveal] objects over 100 yards".

Two 17670's fit in the M4 well right? Makes a good host for the M3 HOLA?

I cannot remember the details.

IMHO, the lack of throw and to a lesser degree--bleeding through lithium primaries were the two main reasons I got into maglite mods. I have had my M4 back in the box in a drawer somewhere for over a year.

Only an MN21 housed in an M4 off Li-ions will result in greater output than an ROP HO.

I have one
Get rid of the stock SF bulbs and get EO-M3T.

With the eo-m3t Its throws a good 150 200 meters meters with a great spot

Those who have a m3t and not the eo bulb, HELL you are missing out on a monster throw and bright white light

What's/ where's available an EO M3T?????

Is it a bare bulb or a module?

Thanks, John

Lumens Factory after market bulbs. Specially designed to be used with 3.7v Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries. In most cases, LF's bulbs' beam profile will be a higher colour temperature with a rounder, more even hotspot. However the average life of LF's lamps are shorter than Surefire's.

I have the EO-M3T in a M4 powered by 2x AW protected 17670s and the HO-R5 in a WF-500 powered by 2x AW protected 18650s. Both LF lamp modules outperform the factory lamps by a mile!

I've made some home made lights with SF bulb/reflector assemblies and while it made a lot of light, It was a wide beam and I prefer throw. How are the D26 and D36 series for throw?

Apparently the M4 has a built in reflector. Using the M series just replaces the bulb only.......

Thanks for the reply, John

From my experience, LF bulbs are ALL optimised for throw with a round hotspot. My LF D26 lamps appear brighter with a rounder hotspot, which results in better throw than my Surefire lamps.

Check out some of the beamshots here to get an idea.

I have not tried these Lumens Factory options, but for only another $25 you too can get a whopping increase of 100 lumens over default MN-61 350L all the way up to 450 Lumens (not sure how that was arrived at, i.e. integrating sphere, etc., or how its accuracy compares to SF specs)...but don't pay attention to the shorter bulb lifetime.

At least you can use 2 17670 Li-Ions....but the textured reflector (to give that "oh so pretty -look Ma, no lumps" beam pattern) is still a throw killer. It's still in the box in some drawer, somewhere.
