surefire m951 led drop in upgrade. Anyone know.

I just bought a surefire m951 tac light and I want to install a drop in but I don't see any on the Internet. I'm looking for 200 lumens or more. Anyone know what drop in will work or what mods I have to do to fit a drop in into the light. I can really use some help guys and thanks.

Malkoffdevices.com or Nailbender here on the forum. Floody options are p7, MCE or SST- 90. Throw options are XP-E, XP-G and SST-50. P60 or D26 size dropin is what you are looking for. Lumens factory also has some but I am only familiar with the incan stuff the make.

I'm looking for a throw option. Does any of those throw options you listed need mods to the light to make it fit. I checked out those you listed but they all have so many of the same models like the D-26 has like 8 different models. What do I need. Voltage and such. Sorry for all the noob questions I just want someone to tell me exact model number and company name so I can buy it. Thanks all

Malkoff devices M60 or M60W are excellent thrower. However looks like both are sold out at the moment. http://www.malkoffdevices.com/shop/m60-mod-to-fit-surefire-p-7.html
You can sign up for his list of when it will be ready. These throw amazing. Work great on 2 CR123 primaries or 2 3.7 volt AW cells or 1 3.7 volt AW cell.

The other option is the nailbender XP-E R2. This is generally regarded as a good thrower. If it is going in a weaponlight I would just get a single stage, direct drive cranked up to whatever it will take on 2 CR123 primaries.

The M951 is one of the more easily modifiable lights, just open the head, remove the lamp assembly and place in the new LED module. Like the other posters have mentioned the Malkoff M60 or M60W are pretty highly regarded and are pretty tough (they have been tested on rifles) and if there are any issues you can contact Gene and he'll fix it.

If you do decide to get a M60, don't forget one of these fitting rings, as you need one since the M951 has a shock absorbing head. Without it, your module may not light or have intermittent contact issues.

BTW if you do decide to purchase a module from Nailbender, they come with a spring and you would need to install that spring on the bottom of the drop in before screwing the head down. Both of my lights with a Z32 and M2 head both required springs for the modules before they lit up.
