Tail switches, threading and interchangability?

Only my second post here in CPF, so bare with me please. I have done some searches and read several posts about tail switches.

As far as .5" dia. and 1 dia" aluminum Incans and LED flashlights go, is there any general interchangeability in tail caps? ie: Any common threading of the bodies? I am imagining there are only but a few possible threads for a .5" diameter?

OR, are threads more of a proprietary thing, based on individual manufacturer?

Last general question, if there are some common threads and interchangability, is there anywhere they are actually identified by measurement, like bolt threads, such a 1/4-20 threads, or 3/4-10 threads?

Those were the General questions.

What prompted this was my recent purchase of a Maratac 9290 AA , and the smaller AAA.
I don't have them in hand yet, but, was already pondering multiple usage.
If I wanted to try the 9290AA as a gun mounted light, is there anyway to determine whether there is remote pressure tape switch that may fit it's threads?

Or is interchangeability more of a hit and miss proposition, and hope someone has done it already and happens to know "this" fits "that"?

I have a 2AA Mini-mag with tape switch. Probably the cheapest rig of it's kind out there.
We can buy specific lights that have the option of a remote switch, by associated part #, but I was wondering if there was any kind of cross reference, or rhyme or reason to the threads used in the various brands in a given diameter body.

Thanks for your patience and taking the time to read this.
