Sold/Expired teflon wire?

Why use Teflon / PTFE wire? Where could I get some?

1. Because the jacket doesn't melt with heat (makes for cleaner mods).
2. There's somebody here on the forum who sells small lengths (search through the Custom BST), or on eBay.

The Teflon insulation doesn't shrink back/melt like PVC insulation does. This is very desirable when using hookup wire to connect things like LED emitters to converter/regulator boards. The Teflon makes the soldering a lot easier since you don't have to worry so much about the wire insulation. Teflon also seems tougher in terms of abrasion resistance.

Very abrasion resistant and heat resistant. Won't tear or stretch when pulled through holes, it's thinner for the same gauge wire so smaller holes are possibly. As well as all the soldering stuff mentioned.

It's harder to strip though, so more time must be taken with each wire. Well worth it though.

I buy most of my teflon wire in 25 ft spools from Action Electronics.

Mudman cj has Teflon wire and is a great CPF'er to deal with you can't go wrong :twothumbs

I buy most of my teflon wire in 25 ft spools from Action Electronics.

I use NTE brand teflon wire & purchase them from Action as well. May seem expensive but those 25 ft spools last me a very long time & is well worth it for me.
