The last SoCal get together I went to was at Griffith Park. It worked well.

I have tons of good suggestions for great sites around SoCal, but many of them are quite an effort to get to. It has been discussed before and Griffith Park was chosen simply as a means of increasing turnout. Many people will not drive for hours or out into the middle of nowhere, even if it means more privacy, no cutoff time and better dark.

FYI, new moons are December 27 and January 25. Given that, I'd vote for Jan. 24. :thumbsup:

I also think a *separate* event of a SoCal CPF camping weekend would be great fun. At that point, we can start discussing sites with MUCH better quality of dark.

I might be up for a SoCal get together. Jan 24 sound good, just hope that day stays free of any work issues. Don't want to get called in while the get together is on.

that sounds like a lot of fun, and i was thinking of santa ynez for the get together, it is about 30 minutes from S.B. its good because there are almost no street lights whatsoever, but it is 1-2.5 hours from LA so that might not work. the 24th of jan it is then. thank you

I'm kinda sorta interested. What kind of things go on at GTGs like this besides blinding each other?
