Looking for a truck light. I want it to be rechargeable and throw light as far as humanly (well, mechanically I guess) possible. A bulb that doesn't need replacing often is a plus.

A friend of mine had an old aluminum Streamlight camping last weekend that the beam just kept going and going. I don't know what model or rating it was though to compare.

If you guys were shopping in the above parameters, what would you pick?

Consider getting the Stanley HID 3000 rechargeable spotlight $70 from Wal-Mart. It throws visible light over 1/2 a mile.

Since you didn't mention a budget...
Polarion Helios PH40

Otherwise, SureFire M6 or M3T. If it will always be in your truck and your truck is subjected to various temperature swings, I'd stick to a light that is powered by lithium primary cells (CR123). If you still really want rechargeable, checkout the M6 rechargeable thread in the Incandescent sub-forum.

Home Depot Husky Brand 2D.

It has a Cree LED and a smooth reflector. I don't know if it will run off rechargeables. A friend of mine bought a bunch of them and they shine at least a half mile according to telephone poles out in the country by his house.

Budget....$100ish if possible.

It is helpful to know your price range. The longest throwing light you can get in that range is the Professional's Favorite 20 Million Plus Candlepower spotlight, bought at Advance Auto Parts for $60. This light is a large rechargeable halogen spotlight.

It easily out throws the Stanley HID. Look for the thread on it in the Spotlights & HID Flashlights forum.

I originally recommended the Stanley HID because it is much smaller and more practical, and I still highly recommend it.

Based on what you have posted, only one of these large spotlights will give you the extreme throw you are looking for.

If you are not able to get either of these spotlights, then the Stanley 2M Series rechargeable halogen spotlight bought at Walmart for $30 would be the next best choice.
