The worst day of my flashaholic life and THAT was why I love warm tint

i was out camping with some friends last night. none of them were flashaholic except me. but thinking it was only a simple overnight camping, i had only with me a D10 and my trusty wee with neutral LE. things went well, my d10 ramped between brightness marvellously. then my friend brought out a no name xenon light. it was rated around 70lumen. my d10 had higher lumen output and threw further than this no name light. but when we were shining some wooden stilts in the sea, this no name light with lower output and shorter throw was able to light up and allow us to count the number of stilts in the sea. what about my d10? no, a blurry picture. and that was why i like incan-liked tints. they are able to show brown color better! my d10 was shamed, the owner was shamed and the d10 i was so proud of for the past 6mths or so suddenly became so unsuitable for EDC! it lost to a $20 light and the worst part was the non flashlight addict laugh at my 'inferior' light! :mecry: now i am really looking forward to my warm tint EZAA. no more white LED for me ever again!

That really stinks!

Get a M60W or a A2. A stock 9P has a very decent discharge curve.

I can picture that "laugh" in my minds eye. Certain anatomical features involuntarily retracted into my abdominal cavity...

That's too bad but the overall performance of the D10 is still superior. You can't let one weakness outweigh its positvies.

Now, ask your friend to carry that light with him eveyday. The D10 is still better in many ways, a single weakness shouldn't bring it down.

I'm not totally sure but I think the D10 can be modded with a warmer tinted LED like a Q3 5A. I know a CPF member modded his D20 that way.

It is totally OK.

Low color temp of incan does well in foggy situation while high color temp LED does poorly.

And after all, his still is cheapish light, and yours is better quality light.

Don't be too down on your D10.... I have found many of the no-name P60 Xenon drop ins to be surprisingly bright and better in many ways than my favorite DIY creations and LED lights.

My current fave Incan is this....

It has a big round hot spot with good spot to flood transition.

Its significantly brighter than the 150 Lumen low mode of my DX:MCE drop in, and noticeably dimmer than the 350 Lumen high (via ceiling bounce comparison).

It looks like you might need to get yourself one of these:
You owe it to yourself :D

You could always build yourself an ROP too--a non-flashaholic won't ever show you up again.

yeah.. i know my d10 is superior to his cheapish light in many ways. but at the moment, the scenario, his cheapish light beat my d10.. u should have seen the gloatings.. my d10 was literally trampled like a fauxton! :sigh:

nice collection of unprotected 18650s!

I have a bunch, but they've all developed high internal resistance. :shakehead

how are yours?

well.. anways.. heh.
tell your laughing friend to compare size.

and runtime.

we'll see who has the last laugh!

Some are good others are bad... but even the bad ones are perfectly serviceable in my direct drive lights. The best ones feed my DX:MC-E drop in with a healthy ~2.10A.

now is there any warm tint light that runs off 18650s? i have a couple of 18650s sitting in my home with nothing to feed off them. i want my revenge!! warm tint, better runtime and perhaps smaller (than his cheapish light):mad::D and also cheap.. lower than $40?

Would you happen to know the name or have pictures of the offending flashlight? We need to check out the competition before we blow it away! :nana: ;)

Shiningbeam just released the L-mini II in a warm tint for $45... but I have no first hand experience with it.

Wait a minute - you claim to be a flashaholic and you went camping overnight with only 2 lights?

This would never have happened to me - I EDC 3 lights and take at least 3 more when camping overnight (plus a couple more again if camping for more than 1 night). I would have got out my Mag 2D and showed them what 500-600 Lumen looks like!(This is my dullest incan - ROP low) For lower light levels I would have my Jet-IIIM (warm tint) handy. For showing off and lighting the camp fire I have a nice Mag 4D. :D
Of course I would be hoping that someone else would bring along a Mag 2D - I am always happy to compare my Mag to someone else's. Actually any bigger Mag would be good too - I am happy to put my 2D against any bigger Mag as well.

The last time I went camping there were some guys that arrived late - it was very dark and they had to put up their tent. I wondered over and used my Mag 2D to give them some light to make it easier for them to put their tent up. When it is pitch black the ROP low output is actually VERY bright.
