thermistor question

I just installed some thermistors in my battery packs to avoid some heat issues while charging. The problem I'm having is a very long charge time now and one of my chargers doesn't even recognize the pack being plugged in now.
This is the one I bought;

I soldered the thermistor inline on the positive lead going into the battery. I use two leads on each battery, one for charging with the thermistor and one lead for plugging into the light. The thermistor is then hot glued onto the pack near the center.
Is this the right placement of the unit and is this the right electrical configuration?

Thanks, Eric S

If anyone would like to know; the thermistor need to be a separately wired unit, which would go to a second lead on a smart charger. I had originally installed it in line for the positive side of the charging circuit. That's not how it's supposed to be used.
Most smart chargers have a lead that monitors the battery temp so it doesn't overheat the pack and this should be where the thermistor is mounted.
