Hi guys (and gals)

From your experience what are the thinnest (smallest diameter) AA NiMH batteries available?

Is it safe to say that a certain manufacturer makes "fatter" batts or batt diameter is a lot/batch thing?

On a side not, could one safely file down the + post in order to fit them in a case? My FT-02 and Kenwood portable battery case are giving me a hard time!

thanks all, kostas

Usually the older lower capacity cells will be thinner. If you want to try the LSD (low self-discharge) batteries, the Sanyo Eneloop AA is thin but is only about 2100 mAH--but the low capacity is more than made up for by the low self-discharge in storage. It's the only NiMH I have that will fit in my Ultrafire C3 except for my old 1800 mAH cells.

You can buy flat top batteries with no + contact button. I wouldn't file down a button top. I haven't measured Eneloop diameter but if they fit in your gadget then I'd stop looking further. I'm using them for everything now.
