Nobody is comparing the two... I just suggested the F1 because fyrstormer was looking for a P60 host and he obviously likes titanium.

No doubt, your motives were good and appreciated by fyrstormer ....

However, recommendations for mass-manufactured lights are rather off-topic for this thread and could always be made by PM in my humble opinion. :)

Indeed. I'd much rather have the one easilyled has...but alas, it was a one-off...:duh2:

Now if I saw a custom light that I really liked a lot, I might consider PM'ing the builder and asking him if another along similar lines is possible. :sssh:
 
True, but considering the overhead associated with setting up manufacturing runs, I'd rather buy a single unit from even a small run than have to cough up all the fixed costs myself, in addition to costs for time and materials.

Suffice it to say I'll gladly pawn my F1 to help pay for a Mac Ti P60 host, should he ever decide to make more. :)
 
Mac that titanium P60 looks incredible. With 18500 cells being offered IMR style its a good choice for size/runtime.





Off topic:
I tested the Moddoo tripple XP-G R5 regulated and not regulated. One is 1260 OTF the other was 800ish OTF.

The Kemberos at 2.8A regulated made alot less OTF then the Moddoo regulated. Sorry, but its true. And the lumens drop reall fast on the Kemberos too. The heatsink is actually hollow underneath and I planned to remake the bottom portion with a solid piece of copper, but sold it to a buddy instead. 600 lumens on a Tripple XP-G R5 is okay, but after seing 800 and 1260 with the overady.com variants :whistle:

Off topic .... I am judging the lumen output in my 2 examples by ceiling bounce.

First did it myself and then asked my partner. We both thought that the Kerberos in the Mac P60 was if anything slightly brighter than the Oveready regulated cool-white in my black C3.

Each and every one behaves differently I guess.
 
On topic: The reasons I am using a Kerberos drop-in for this Mac P60 light instead of an Oveready is twofold.

First of all the Mac P60 light is based on the inner dimensions of the Solarforce L2, not the Surefire P60. This is what Mac told me. Therefore the Oveready drop-in wouldn't light up in this Mac P60 light anyway without modification which I'm not willing to go to the trouble of trying out.

The second good reason for using the Kerberos is the voltage range. The Kerberos is designed to work on a single li-ion whereas the Oveready drop-in only does best with 2 li-ions. The Mac P60 is designed for 1 18500, so its not possible to use 2 cells in it.
 
Anyway guys

I think that i would prefer a gorgeous and bright custom Ti P60 flashlight like this, than a cerakoted Surefire with a brighter drop-in.

You might ask for a Ti ring to fill the gap(e) between head and body.
 
The Kerberos drop-in causes the slight gap. There's none at all with a Nailbender drop-in, for example.

Sorry for my bad english, when saying Ti ring, i mean a titanium ring (it's not exactly a washer)...well, i hope this picture might helps to see what i mean:

Of course Mac will make a ring with appropriate thickness and with an internal and external diameter that will perfectly fill the gap between the head and the body.
A ring (1 to 2 mm) thicker than the actual gap will give a little bit more room for the battery, if needed.

I don't actually mind the slight gap though, as it could look like its part of the patterning since there are grooves in the head.

I've also discovered that Oveready drop-ins also work in this light without any modification required. :twothumbs
 
It'll accumulate dirt and dead skin cells over time, though; if you can get a spacer ring, or even a suitable O-ring, I think that would be a good idea.

Perhaps I would use a spacer/o-ring if I decided to go along with the Kerberos drop-in permanently. I could probably even fit a lanyard ring there as an alternative.

However I have decided to use a Nailbender SST-50, which works beautifully and results in no gap worth mentioning.

The Nailbender still puts out a spectacular amount of lumens on high, maybe not quite as much as the triple-XPGs, but its more focused and results in longer runtime.

Thanks. Yes I must admit that it has become one of my strong favorites too.
The machining is absolutely amazing and the pictures don't really do it justice.
Its a tank of a light and with the SST-50, it has a gorgeous beam too. :)

If i were you, i would not because Kerberos drop-in is floody with a wide spill angle.
The crenelated head, that couldn't be remove/replace (like a bezel ring) on this flashlight, cuts the edge of the spill.

I really like the SST-50 and this is most likely what I'll stick to.

I think we all can agree it looks awesome regardless of your choice in drop-ins, and these really ought to be given to every new CPF member so they don't waste money on cheap lights. Am I right? :D
