Recently, I aquired a used Powerex C-9000 charger from the marketplace which happens to be one of the original version 0FAB01. Questions to you owners with the same model. Does your charger go into "charging" mode 3 seconds after you put in 2nd battery in any of the available bay without any mode selection made? If I continue to put batteries in the rest of the charging bays, the charger would jump into "charging" status immediately without letting me have a chance to select other modes. Does yours do the same? I also have the latest version which will give me time to select the mode I want for the individual bay.

Thanks,

Kha

Hi Kha,

I too have an original edition, and like your more recent edition, it provides the option and the time to individually set-up each bay as the cells are inserted.

If you haven't already, here's a few things to try that may at least provide more insight into your charger's behaviour.

-Disconnect the power, insert the cells and then power the charger up. I do this by preference, and the charger always provides the settings option for an ample amount of time for each cell. It starts with the outer left bay and shifts right.

-Try a few different cells, perhaps it's just a cell with an internal short causing the behaviour.

-Try inserting the first cell in different bays, perhaps it's only one that's causing the behaviour. If that ends up being the case, a work-around may be to load it last.

-After ensuring they have the same output, which they should, try switching out the power supply with the one from your newer model.

Best of luck.

Hello Bones,

After a few more thourough tests and comparisons, the original edition charger waits 5 seconds for a mode selection input where the new version 0H0JA is 10 seconds. If I place all 4 batteries into the bays without entering a selection on the first bay that I put battery in, then after the 5 sec elapses, the charger go into default charging mode at 1000 ma for all 4 bays pretty much instantly. This goes the same for the new version charger except it is 10 seconds delay instead of 5. Recycling the power seems to make no differences.

This is not really a problem for me as I was a little curious about it. I usually charge my AAs with the defauts anyway so all is well :) . Now, for AAAs, I just need to have a quicker trigger, that's all
:) .
Thanks,

Kha

I have never encountered this problem as I always insert and configure my cells one-by-one. That is to say I put the first cell in, adjust the settings and watch it start; then I put the second cell in, adjust the settings and watch it start; and so on. I never put a second cell in before I have finished setting up the first cell.

I also do the same.....just makes me feel better that the cells im putting in are at the settings i prefer.
