triple P7 Mag

It would probably need to be like a 3D (one D being occupied by a large heatsink), because P7's create a lot of heat and would require a large heatsink for three of them. That would also be a rather expensive light. P7's are about $28 each then a driver would be $7x3+ then the cost of a mag, and a battery adaptor / d-lions, etc. It could easily end up costing $150 to make one... I don't have enough $ to be spending $ like that, or I'd try it.

Just the thought of a LED light being almost as bright as some of those 2-3D mag mods out there... 2000+ lumens of white LED light. Amazing.

I'm sure it has already been done. Take a look at DaFABRICATA's Surefire mod in the works.

I' not sure if a maglite can take that much heat. a 30w LED light will require some SERIOUS heat sinking to work. I am assuming a 3-P7 light would be driven at spec, since if one were to underdrive the LEDs then might as well drive one P7 to spec and save a lot of money and time.

edit: holy smokes.

There have been some discussions about floody P7 lights including multiple P7 torches over at illumination forums.

A Maglite switch will only handle a Max of 6A. I see them fail if I go much over that. I ran the Stunner at 8A, fried both switches and ruin some batteries. Heat was phenominal.
The Stunner is 8xSSC P4 or the equivalent of 2 P7s.

It should be possible to run 3 P7s in series driven by 3xD Li-ons or 9 D NiMH batteries. Current would be 2.8 to 4A. Voltage 10.8V to 12.6V.

EDIT
BTW

If you want a MaxFlood, email me, I can make one easy enough. I think it would be fun.

With all the heat issues surrounding the P7, maybe some kind of searchlight and a fan would be the way to drive multi-P7's. anyone remember the 20 or so cree monster that a member here made?

Hello everyone,

I'm new here. Pardon my ignorance, but I wonder if anyone has purchased one of these Wall of Fires from Elektrolumens and have tried to modify it with an aspheric lens to give it a wee amount of throw? Can the aspheric lens from Kai Domain fit on the Wall of Fire? From the pictures of the WOF on Elektrolumens' website - the WOF doesn't seem to have much clearance for one. Appreciate all your comments and opinions! :D

I don't know if it can, but if possible, dang. I wouldn't want to put it in focus, but just a little tighter than raw like that.

I'm looking the same things as you, if someone have done with either aspheric lens or optic lens. I'm sure someone soon will come up with solution.

Hi Gladius01 and AardvarkSagus, Thank you for your replies and for your warm welcome!

I guess to obtain best results - the light source must be centered as you say Sir Lightalot.
We'll see what happens when my WOF and aspheric lens arrive! I could not resist...Oh the temptation for a bright light! :grin2:
