I'm trying to move a Seoul P4 emitter from its star. I'm having some trouble.

First off, I can't seem to desolder the leads, they just aren't melting for me. I have a 25W soldering iron, do I need something with more umph?

Second, I think I may have damaged the emitter in the process, there is what appears to be a crack in the clear globe. Does this mean its done for?

Thanks,

You do need a higher wattage iron. The solder should melt in a second, or two.

It is toast. The dome is soft silicone, and you have damaged it. While it may still produce light, the beam will be so full of artifacts it will be unusable.
