Hi

I thought that perhaps some of you guys with workshop facilities might be interested in this project which is featured on my website http://start-model-engineering.co.uk/category/brass-torch/ . It's a full turorial with videos.

Yes I know they are called flashlights in the States and I apologise in advance to none UK members about the weird intro !

Very nice. I really appreciate those vids & will forward it to a machinist contact I have. He's experienced but not with lights. That will help him visualize more on some projects I'm sending off to him.

Thanks for sharing,
AZ

Hi Guys

An update on my earlier item on the making of mini novelty flashlights in the form of key rings has now been posted at http://start-model-engineering.co.uk/2010/03/16/brass-torch/more-torches-2/
These are a couple of mini LED flashlights made as Easter presents.

Thanks PCC

Good point, though in practice the heat level generated seems very low and the mini-torches - oops, sorry again - flashlights, are not intended for continuous use. In addition the flashlights have a brass substructure which will absorb a good deal of heat.

I have now started a small production run of six units and I will run one of the flashlights continuously to establish any problems with excessive heat.
