So here I was, sitting at my desk. I had my Ultrafire C2, and I had a cap from my vitamin water sitting next to me. Bored I tried sticking it over the C2. What's this? It almost first perfect! The only thing messing things up were the plastic threads in the cap, so I shaved them down with a sharp knife and.. PERFECT FIT!

The cap is a milky plastic so it makes a great diffuser! Also the way the plastic wraps around the bezel, and the way there are little ribs in the cap (to give texture to grasph to unscrew the cap) it really pulls the light through the plastic and if you sit the flashlight down, bezel side down, you still get a fair amountof light glowing from it!

Of course, beam shots will paint a better picture:

Here is an under exposed shot to show the glowing cap:

Here it is with a more real life exposure:

Now for beam shots!

Before diffuser @ 1m:

With diffuser, same exposure as above @1m:

Longer exposure @1m:

Now with the diffuser on from about 3m. Is this what they call a wall of light? :)

Same exposure, also 3m, no diffuser:

So what does everyone think? Not bad for a bottle cap. :)

Also I modded my Ultrafire C2 (The HA type III, or whatever, version) with a DX Q5 WG and run it with 2 AW RCR123's. From my tests it's putting out close to 200 lumens out the front! It's a fun light for the money, even with the stock P4.

Probably it's just my eyes, it looks like a fair bit of loss of light. If the cap can go all the way, I would probably make a hole and put a diffuser film. I make my hole slightly smaller than the overall diameter so it can hold the film when attached to the light. I heard fastcar's film were good; unfortunately I missed the run. I use the diffusing material from an old LCD; ceiling bounce test with light meter in my camera shows no loss of light, although I'm sure the light meter is not sensitive enough.

Any port in a storm. If it's what you've got and it works, then use it.

It does seem to suck up a bit too much of the light. Kind of acts some where between a beam diffuser and a lantern type diffuser.
