Hi guys,
Just a quick question (or two) re 'hot off the charger voltage' - 2D ROP.
When I charge my 6 CBP 1650 AAs in the FM 6AA-2d adaptor using the Univeral Smart Charger NiMh 7.2-12v http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=104771 the charger only gets the pack to 7.8v and each cell registers as only 90% capacity on my battery checker.
When I charge the cells individually in an Ansmann 6 bay charger they each come off at 1.4v, making a total of 8.4v for the pack.
Is 7.8v underdoing it or is 8.4 pushing things too much? Anyone else getting higher results using the Universal Smart Charger?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,

Your Universal Charger is undercharging. The most likely cause is high resistance in the circuit. Check all your connections.

Thanks, Tom. I guess the clever money will be on my soldering of the male jack as the probable culprit...I'll go and check.
Cheers,

Yup..! I connected the charger to the carrier via the croc clips and bingo - a tad over 8.4v :twothumbs
Off to soldering school for me, then.
Great spot from 3,000+ miles away, Tom.
