I bought a Dorcy 1xAAA from Wal-Mart because it looked rather attractive ($6 for a single AAA light) and went home to discover that the updated Dorcy had almost 1/2 the light output of the old Dorcy:

It appears to use a single 3mm? white LED. Is there a simple fix for boosting the light output just a tad? I have a Fenix E1 1xAAA which is much brighter, but it was also $20+.

I love single AAA keychain lights because they come in handy. I don't always lug around my 135 lumen 2xAA, but the 1xAAA fits in my pocket.

I think the latest gen 4 Dorcy already has a 2X led in it so replacing the LED may not help you much. I do not know how to tell a gen 3 from a gen 4 as they are both optic versions.

I made a skinny Dorcy with a 10mm PR bulb and the tailcap of another Dorcy acting as the bezel but by the time you buy the 2 Dorcys and the bulb it makes more sense to just get a Fenix E0 or E1 or an Ultrafire 602c-SSC P4 or B3.
Note the Fenix store discount applies to orders >$20 so will not work for a single E0.
