I got a SF V82 holster today for my SF L1 but it doesn't seem right.

In these pictures you can see that the flap doesnt go down as much as you would assume, the last picture with the F04 is just plain wrong, it states that you can use beam filters with it but the flap wont shut. Do I have a defective holster?

the new SureFire holsters suck! IMO :thumbsdow

I actually ended up returning a newer style 6P holster to lighthound (awesome CS!) just because it was crappy and badly fitted compared to my older style holster that was MUCH nicer

Thanks Mike/Wolf

I think I mite just keep it for the sake of having to send it back.

It's a milky L1 so I don't need to beam shaper anyway but I thought it very odd.

The holsters from surefire are called quick release because the velcro strap is not supposed to go on all the way, just enough to keep the light in the holster. I had the same thoughts when I got a V41 for my L7, but quickly realized that it would make unholstering the light easier.

I'm with Size15's
It means the holster undoes from the belt without having to slide everything else off the belt first.
Helpful if the light is behind your gun holster which is held firmly in place with little screws (as mine was).

Regards
Dave

I have the L1 and bought the V82 for it - I have the same problem. The V82 is too small for both the Cree L1 and older L1. Elsewhere on the Surefire site, Surefire says to use the V20/V21/V25. I have one of those and both lights fit pretty well in that case.

I think Surefire just screwed up. The V82 fits the e1e and slightly less well the e1L, but clearly not the L1.

The holsters take some time to break in. I had a V41 for the L7 and it was a tight fit at first, but now it is fitting down in much better.
