Hey everyone, Ive been using a 8x dvd burner diode for awhile and just purchased a 20x one
but i was also looking on ebay for diodes and found these to be relatively cheap do these really put out the power they claim?

The first three items are from Snoctony in China. He's a good supplier but the prices are for one piece, not a lot of 5. He just shows them that way. Those are 808 nM pump diodes -- faint beam and dangerous to the eye.
The last LD's at $10 each isn't a bad price but at 140 mW are a good starting point for experimenters. Probably a 12x diode.

ooh the "TO-5 package" made me believe they were 5 at first glance
how many mW would the 20x dvd burner give out? approx.

and the whole maglight/dvd burner thing whats the best way to regulate it? get a converter board or could i just add a resistor or something?

sorry im a noobie to the whole electronics thing
