What kind of brightness could I expect out of a 1331 running 6 nimh at 7.2 v?Will it be really yellow?

I dont know if a 8aa to 2 d adapter will fit? Is there any measurement ,I want to fit it in a vintage rayovac.Any chance it wont work?Should I just get pelican big d bulb for it and run at 7.2?

"WA01331: 9.6v 1.93a @ spec (534 b-lumens) / 10.8v (806 b-lumens)
WA01185: 9.6v 3.15a @ spec (817 b-lumens) / 10.8v (1234 b-lumens)"

(Info above from litho123's sales post - I included the 1185 just to show an over driven 1331 is about equal to a nominal driven 1185)

At 7.2V, the 1331 would be quite dim and yellow. Not worth the trouble, in my opinion.

From what I've read, the 8AA to 2D adapter may not fit a Maglite. It all depends on which brand of AA cell you have. They are that close in tolerance. Other D cell hosts are typically OK to use.

I like your suggestion of starting with the Pelican lamps. It's a known, working approach.

The 8A to 2D adapter does fit in an unbored mag using Titanium 2600 cells, which performed very well in Silverfox's shootout. You need to massage and twist it a bit but it does fit and it does come back out with a few taps. They give me about 30 to 35 minutes of solid performance run time and you could add 5 more minute of slightly dimming performance.

1331 works out to 121 torch lumen at 7.1V (about what you'll get to the lamp from 7.2V battery).. consider that the normal use of 1331 is 524L at 10.8V.

'what he said' about the 1111 lamp or better.. use the 1160 lamp regulated to 6.6V.. output is about the same but the output is constant start to finish!
