Search the threads and didn't see this mentioned before specifically.

Just received today some bulbs from Quality China Goods (QCG) that are roughly P60 and P90 replacements. I bought a 6P over the holidays and really like it, and had also picked up a detonator extender and needed a bulb for it (picked up an LED drop in as well, but that's for another section of the forum).

Being the cheapskate that I can be, I search around for the cheapest price on a 9 volt bulb. Found many at the normal spots (DX, KD) for a few bucks each. But found some at QCG that seemed too good to be true. Emailed them for details, and they confirmed.

Links are as follows:

3.7 Volt - $5.88

6 Volt - $5.88

9 Volt - $5.95

14 Volt - $5.98

Only thing is, the prices above are for 10 bulbs!

I ordered a 10 pack of the 6v and the 9v bulbs, and although I cannot do a good comparison versus the bulbs they are supposed to replace, I am initially satisfied with the bulbs. These may not be for everyone, but for less than 60 cents each shipped, I can't beat it.

I will warn that at least here to the East coast of the US, it took every bit of the 15 days (maybe even 16-17) that they stated it would to get here. But for the cost, I can afford to be patient!

Hope others are able to take advantage of this if they should choose too!

Eric

*** EDIT ***

Seems prices are now per bulb, but the wholesale site does still list these in quantities of 10 for just under $3.00 a bulb.

That 9v lamp looks identical to the one that came stock in one of my lights, and to be honest, it's my favorite incandescent light as of now.

Just to clear it up, I think you meant the prices are for EACH bulb when you buy them in packs of 10?

Unless I'm mistaken; but I don't think it's possible to manufacture a bulb/reflector/spring assembly for 50 cents, even in China.

No...let me be perfectly clear. I sent them just under $12, and I received 20 bulbs. At under 60 cents shipped, I just don't think you can beat that price anywhere. :grin2:

Also, someone asked about the reflector. These bulbs do have a bulb spring assembly that unscrews from the reflector, leaving you with a reflector that could be used with other mods.

My God that's cheap!

I might have to buy my first SF because of this. I'll check to see if they offer them in 7.4V versions.

Re: Ultra Inexpensive P60 type Replacements

Has anyone tried these out and compared them to SF lamps?

Re: Ultra Inexpensive P60 type Replacements

Just bear in mind that any bulb "ultra-inexpensive" will also be ultra unreliable. Especially when it comes to high-powered incan lamps.

While I understand what you are trying to say, how can you make such a statement? What basis do you make this statement on?

I completely agree that over time we may find that these bulbs have less of a life then, let's say, a SF equivalent. But how do we know?? Heck, we've had some members on here who have opened up a brand new SF flashlight and had a bad bulb...it happens! (and yes, SF is great at correcting the situation.

I guess my point is on what basis are you making this statement? Personal knowledge with these bulbs? I would agree that without knowing anything else about these bulbs, someone who depends on their light for their life (police, military, etc) should probably rely on a SF or other brand name bulb. But for some of us casual users, what is the harm in giving the no name brand el cheapo bulb a shot? I've got no problem keeping a couple spares nearby and maybe an LED drop-in as well just in case.

Sorry for the rant...I'm just really taken off guard by your statement.

I was wondering more about the lumen output and beam quality, not so much the reliablility. Ay $.60 each, I don't care if they only last 5 hours or so.

Re: Ultra Inexpensive P60 type Replacements

I think they would be worth a try. I will order some and do bounce with lightmeter/runtime tests with them and use 2X18650's. I will order the 9 volt LA's. Will also do amp at tailcap checks and compare to P90 Surefire LA's.

Rant follows; please ignore.

I won't be buying these. I'd much rather buy from an American company, that pays American workers living wages, and delivers a product of guaranteed quality. Surefire has made a commitment to America, and I feel I need to honor them for doing so.

You don't get that when you buy cheap Chinese junk that rips off American innovation.

When China takes advantage of us in a couple of years, who will we have to blame but Americans who sent money to the Communist Chinese military by buying under-priced products?

Consider it done. In my 6 years on this forum, you're the first person I've ever put on my ignore list.

At that price, id get it for the reflector, nevermind the bulb..

Re: Ultra Inexpensive P60 type Replacements

I came in because I saw the word P60 on the title and I have some questions: what's the color of these bulbs? I need white to replace my yellow bulb in my 6P clone Cabela's. And the will the 6v bulbs survive with 2 RCR123A at 3.7v each? That's about 7.4V fully charged.

Greenlead,

I can't blame you at all for saying the things you have, and you bring up some great points. In theory, I agree with you. Kudos to you for being so patriotic.

However, I for can state that while I believe I have a great (and good paying to boot) job, I am a sole provider for my family and therefore I don't have the kind of cash to pick up multiple SF spares of different voltages. Not a compliant, not whining, just a simple fact.

For the time being, a deal like this is just the thing some of us need to get us by in our lust for neat cool lights. It would take an awful lot of us buying 60 cent bulb assemblies to match the money that is lost to countries like China on more mainstream consumer electronics. Not to say it doesn't make a difference, its just a drop in the proverbial bucket.

I hope someday to be in the position where I'll be able to pick and choose what I buy based solely (or primarily) on it being made in the USA.

Luckily here in the USA, we have the freedom to choose...

Eric
