Wasn't fenix making a simple two mode AA?

I am doing some last minute christmas shopping and thought they did. Can't seem to find anything but the light with the same UI as my P2D-CE. A few months ago I remember a two mode light. Switch on for low, then tighten the bezel for high.

I would like to get a nice light for my dad but don't want so many useless modes.

Maybe I will have to look at another brand?

Check out the Fenix L1T v2.0, click for on, tighten the bezel for high.

Andy, the L1T/L2T (version 2) is what you were looking for. They are getting sold out, everywhere. Fenix-Store for example, doesn't appear to have either in stock again until next year. LightHound still has the L1T (the 1xAA model) in stock, here (link). "CPF" will give you a 2% discount at checkout as well.

Everyone here beat me to it... But you can get them at lighthound, i ordered one on Wednesday and they still had them in stock.

I too would prefer the simple 2 stage L2T over my L2D. Unfortunately the L2T/L1T doesn't come with a top bin emitter (comes with Rebel 80 instead of Rebel 100 or Cree Q5) . There's always the T1 of course.

EliteLED has the Fenix 2-mode L1S on sale for about $24bucks.

I just got a couple myself for gifts for some non-flashaholics.

EliteLED had the L2T v2.0 still on their site. Just ordered one, will see if they fill the order.

Lighthound said he was out.
Hope so, if not off to the classifieds here.

I don't care that it does not have the Q5 or 100 emitter. The small difference in brightness is not worth the trade off in ease of use for a non flashaholic.

Thanks for all the help!

Andy

Some of them have been shipping with RB100's instead of RB80's. It's currently luck of the draw though. Might be worth a couple extra buck and ask the dealer to sort through a couple to find one that's likely a RB100.

From fenix-store or lighthound?

Can you not simply stick an L2D head onto an L2T body? Assuming, that is, you can find an L2T body/tailcap.

I don't think so. It would be the electronics in the head which determines the modes, so you'd still be stuck with 4 brightness levels, strobe and SOS.

I have the L2T (and prior to that L2P, L1P's, and L0P too) and recently got the L2D (as well as L1D, P3D too). Just 1 persons opinion, but the crees are noticeably brighter than the L2T. I thought the momentary tailswitch action of the L2D was simple and easy. And did I say bright? My L2T head twist for mine require a firm / hard twist to engage the higher level. L2T is less expensive, but L2D has more performance. Just offerring this for people to consider. I'm upgrading car / house EDC lights to fenix crees. enjoy the choices as fenix makes great lights regardless

I'd recommend buying the L1Tv2 version. With just one battery, the lower output of the rebel 80 isn't much of a difference. The L1Tv2 also ran for a nice 2hr46min to 50% on High (NiMH) in selfbuilt's runtime test. For 2 battery use, I'd wait for a better LED with a much higher output, although, the current output isn't really all that bad except in comparison to the latest and greatest.

I just got a L2T v2. I like the forward clicky and the simplicity of two modes, but the tint looks greenish to my eyes, compared to white for my L2D CE. I swapped tail caps, and I'm pleased at the function of the forward clicky on the L2D CE. With a little practice, I found it easy to switch between modes.

Wow, I bet all those dealers are brimming with anticipation at the thought of tearing open boxes, installing batteries, and cherry picking their stock for a "couple extra buck".

And then, repackage everything. :thumbsdow

I read a post from a major dealer here at CPF, who said when he takes telephone orders, some people want to talk about everything under the sun, and he, being polite, listens.

Time is money. After 5 min. yakking, he is already losing money. And some folks ramble on for 15 or 20 min. or more.

Are a few lumens one way or the other really that important?

Not for me, but they are for some people. Why do you think there are so many CPF'ers so eager to swap out P4 and Q2 emitters for Q5's, and are drooling as the prospects of swapping out those Q5's for R2's, when the increase in minuscule, and vastly unnoticeable to the human eye?

To each their own...

I'm the SOB who got the one from Trevor/Fenix-Store's last refurb sale, it's a black L1S. Has clicky on the bottom to turn on, and you tighten the bezel all the way for high, loosen a millimeter or two for low. It's a 1watt Lux though. I'll probably be looking for a modder next year to swap a better LED into it. It would replace my L1P w/SSC, even though I still love that light, 2 modes would be cooler.
