Hi guys,
I have a WE M90 with the 700 lumen lamp and 3 150 batteries. Awesome light, but I'm looking to have a long runtime option. Can I use the HO Cree with my batteries ? Also, how does the 4 stage version operate ? Costs to buy the parts etc... ? Can I still use the charger I have ?
Lot of questions but I kinda stuck for info :D
Cheers, Mike.

How are you using 2x LRB-150 (18500) in your M90? Are you using a dummy cell with them? And which 700-lumen LA is this - do you mean the EO-13? You certainly won't be getting 700 lm out of a 13v LA with only 2 Li-Ions (max 8.4v). The beam will be very yellow and I doubt you will be getting more than ~200 lm.

It would be a complete waste of the M90 to put a Cree drop-in in it. If the M90 is properly set up with the EO-13, and 3x 18500 and the short extension tube or 3x 18650 and the long extension tube, it will indeed give you 700 lm.

That is at least 3x brighter than a Cree drop-in. If you want to use a Cree drop-in, put it in a small light - it will be just as bright in a small one as a large one.

I made a mistake before .. now amended :eek:It is 3 LRB150A's. I would like the option of a Cree to get really good runtime and just use the one light .. just wondering if it's possible or not.
Mike.

OK, 3x 18500 / LRB-150, so you must also have the short extension tube (can't remember what its designation is).

There is a WE D36 Cree drop-in for it, which you can get from Mike at PTS, although for the reasons I gave above I would never use this combo. It would be like putting a lawnmover engine into a Range Rover. If I want run-time, I carry spare cells. If I want a dim light, I use a small one.

Just fancied the 270 mins regulated runtime as opposed to the 110 mins of the Defender ... might have to think about this one ;) Thanks for letting me know it works :D
Mike.

A Defender + 1x spare 18650 / LRB-168A together would be ~½ the weight of an M90. Much handier if you don't need the 700 lm.

Looks like I have sorted this ... thanks to a great UK member here I have a Guider coming early next month :D Cheers Brian

There is nothing wrong with wanting to use a D36 170 lumen Cree in his M90 Rattlesnake. If this tickles your fancy then go for it. You have to make sure the D36 Cree is the 3.7v to 13v Cree lamp. If you have the WE 13v tailcap charger then I don't think it will work since the batteries go in the opposite direction ( positive towards the bezel and negative towards the tailcap), but if you have the standard charger then yes you can. I have not tried the digital Crees, so no opinion.

I have the tailcap charger so I suppose costs would add up :(Thanks for the confirmation though
Mike.

FlashKat, YM obviously V's from mine on this, lol. But that's fine - I don't have strong feelings on it, and there's certainly nothing wrong with your view. Amicable disagreement would probably be the best way to put it.

The only reason I don't see a problem with using a Cree is that sometimes it is easier just to have one flashlight for long runtime. If he really wants long runtime then he just needs the 168 extender and 3 168 batteries.

And not as bright all the time :)
