WF-606A poor runtime @ 2 AA's

Hi,

I received my Ultrafire WF-606A from dealextreme (sku 4238) this morning.
I put two new Energizer AAs (no rechargeables) in it and the output was
very good at first. But after only 45 minutes, it dropped to a very low level which
was not usable anymore.

Could someone please explain to me why the runtime is so poor ?
Maybe I should try to run some NiMH's instead?

Any flashlight that discharges a battery in that length of time will do much better with NiMH than alkaline. See here for the reason why.

Yep, the eneloops work much better. Runtime was 90mins before the output began to drop :thumbsup:

The alkaline chemistry can't keep up with that kind of continuous current draw. Alkalines work best at either lower drains or else drains in bursts, so that the cell can recover.
