When a xenon bulb dies of old age, rather than being blown by too much voltage, what happens?

Does it reach a point when it starts to change color, or maybe get dimmer, gradually fading away to nothing, or does it die instantly with no apparent warning?

Thank you :)

As it grows older, deposits from the filament will discolour/darken the bulb.
The glass gets darker, the light output is gradually reduced.
In the end the filament will just get burned off, and the bulb is dead.
The reduced output is mostly never noticed, if not compared with a fresh bulb.

Ah right, thanks for that :)

I was just wondering as I have only recently started with incan lights, and I wasn't really sure what to expect.

I have many hours left (I assume) on my first 2 bulbs that are in lights, but as they get used I'll keep an eye on them sometimes, to see if I can notice any darkening.
