What is the best way to find local CPFers?

I have met a couple of local CPFers on email via the private messages area when I see in a thread that they live locally in Sydney, Australia.

Is there a way to find other local members?

I did a search in the CPF forum but could not locate any FAQs regarding this.

Start a thread here Trade Shows & Flashaholic Get Togethers Titled "Sydney get together all welcome", that's how we started off. Melbourne now has a very active group.

Chances of another CPFer living on the same block is few and far between:tired:
I once thought I met another cpfer when I got hit by a blinding beam... but turned out was some kid and his new 1MCP blasting at everything he can find.

Closest to me whom I have contacts for are in St. Petersburg, Hollywood, Orange City, Miami...most of which takes a bit of driving to get to.

Since the time I have bought and sold on CPFM I've systematically loaded seller/buyers addresses into google earth and from what I'm seeing its reasonable to expect one or at most two cpfers per city...with the exception of the northwest and CA

Opening a get together thread is preferred yes, but from the perspective of collecting demographics, the success rate is so-so.

That seems like a fair assessment, you could probably apply that to most fringe enthusiast pursuits

Oh, BTW - I think there are a few of us in Greater London, UK. I've met two others so far. The best thing is to plan a meet and advertise it here in the above mentioned forum.

A couple years ago there was talk about forming divisions on CPF I'm guessing for ease of communication...upon consulting formerally Sasha apparently the proposal rolled off the table, thread locked...or deleted, because I can't find it :green:

So far everybody in this thread have done what I consider the first step. Fill out the location of where you are.

I was contacted by 2 other local members when they see the city I am in.

I chased one newbie with no location information all over CPF to answer his questions. I decided to send him some parts and asked him to PM me his address. He lives only 20 blocks from me!
