What kind of lamps do car headlights use? A person from My church recently bought a new lexus model. I was gawking at the features and started to examine the headlights. As a flashaholic, this was unavoidable /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Since it was a late model, I thought it would have the white headlights. But instead of seeing a bulb, I saw domed glass!! It seems that the latest cars out there have those. Do they use LEDs? If they do, how do they throw so far?

it is a projector headlamp you are seeing. complex reflector houses the lamp (either incandescent, or more likely, discharge aka xenon/HID), which then goes thru the half-dome or similar shaped lens. kinda like reflectors in flashlights vs optics like the Inovas or the mods have /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
