So I am looking at getting a large light like the Fenix TK40 and a smaller light like the TA30. The problem is the Fenix TA30 isnt AAs and I dont feel like dealing with only one thing that needs special batterys. My question to you all is this.

What is a better option then the TK40 for someone who wants a light to send out 400+ lumins and be LED. It could be C or D cell if they make them. The look isnt so big on this one, but I'd like it to be built pretty strong. Also any upgrades or extras that would be nice to have ?

I am also seeking another 2xAA light. I recently got the fenix E20 and I already own a mini mag LED. So now id like to get a high-end 2 or 3AA light. I like the TA30s look and the fact that instead of turning it off and on again to switch it has another way to change modes. I would prefer this light to have a black finish but if not no biggy. I dont need a strobe at all. A 3 mode light at most. A high of around 200-250 lumens and a low setting around what the mini-mag does( I'm guessing around 50 ? ). Any upgrades or spare parts I should get ?

By "better option" do u mean a light that also runs on cr123's so the TA30 will not be the only light you have that uses those? If so, you actually have a ton of choices because the TK40 is actually a rarity to have a light that bright running on AA's. To name a few TK40 "competitors" that run on cr123's you should take a look at are the Fenix TK30, Jetbeam M1X, Jetbeam M2S, Olight M30, Eagletac M2XC4, M2C4, M2SC4

If you prefer C or D cells, you could look into a mag with some sort of MC-E, P7, or SST mod or drop in. Or also check out lumapower's mentor MT-E which runs on C's also

There really aren't too many 2AA lights with a selector ring. But some noteworthy 2AA lights you can look into are Fenix TK20, Quark 2AA tactical, Quark 2AA Turbo, Eagletac's P series lights, Dereelight Javelin, Solarforce L2R (the last two have the added versatility of using P60 drop ins)

Also check out the flashlight review forum where you'll find tons of reviews including selfbuilt's 2AA roundup which may be helpful in finding u the right light

There are not that many lights with ring interface, JetBeam has a single AA/CR123 light:

The only other AA light with high output is the ITP A6, it is cheaper and lower quality than TK40:

Lumapower has a 3*C light with high output.
