Maybe a magnifying lens?

Too tentative g. You are answering a question with a question. Too darn metaphysical. Be bold. Show me your magnifying glass making fire. I don't believe you even own one.

I prefer a spark

Show me your spark.

I bet you haven't lit a fire in years. Moved away from your inner hominid did you? You are not dead yet. Fingers still depress the keys on the keyboard so there is hope.

Thanks for the challenge. I've been meaning to collect all my magnifyers and take a pic of them together.

Maybe I'll post a video of me burning something.

Gadfree daniel, you do have some magnifying glass my friend. I will never doubt you again. You have 1/2 a beer coming. I'm jealous of the desk model with the light as I've always wanted one like it.

I really appreciate the pic. Burn something for me. Thank you.

Most of the time a Zippo...mostly to light other peoples ciggarettes since I don't smoke myself...But I do like to be prepared...

A pic would be terrific. My imagination tells me you have Zippo with a rainbow ti finish, no wait, a pinup maybe, no um, elegantly simple brushed finish perhaps.

My father carried a Zippo. I can still hear the clink it made opening and closing. I wish I had it now to remind me of him.

Dang it but I've been trying to open your link and cannot (dialup here, out in the sticks with the hicks and do I fit in). Are talking about the giant Tesla coil arc?

Yeah, we are talking 8' sparks and standing quite close you often feel all the hair on your arms and head start to stand before you get the spark.

The site is loaded with images so your dialup wont like it.

These are hard to find now a days

I've actually lit the "strike anywhere" matches on my jeans by holding the match close to the business end and dragging it along the pants covering my upper leg. You need to quickly shift your grip when it ignites and somehow keep from breaking off the tip.

Thanks for the pic.

I thought we were guessing what happened to the .50 round, but I guess not. :stupid:

If it's fire you want, it's fire you'll get:

Survivor LED flamethrower: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZG7ivJxPPk

Minimag vs. match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewe_RcH_k_8

I'm working on a hotwire build that should provide similar results.

I would really enjoy seeing your hotwire in action. Good luck with it. I've built 3 and each was a ball to piece together. Some of the best fun I've had via CPF.
