I see our wonderful vendors have them but the shipping is far more than the product. Seems silly to spend $5.00+ dollars for a $1.75 part?:ohgeez:

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Gary

Tractor supply company has them, If you have one in your area. I was just in one last night and I picked up a new 6D Mag. I was looking for 6D bulbs but all they had in was the 5D ones. You might also get lucky at walmart...

Indeed, ordering bulbs by mail-order can be a bit silly and expensive, if that is all you are ordering.

Fortunately though, the 5 cell Krypton bulb that Mag uses is pretty much a generic KPR bulb and can be found in many stores albeit without the Mag part number stamped on it. The bulb that you would want is a KPR112 bulb. You probably have a Radio Shack store near you, and that is one of their regular stock items. Their SKU number is 272-1163. Alternatively, some hardware or electronic hobby stores may carry KPR112 bulbs as well. Another resource, though it could be somewhat scarce depending upon where you live, is a retail dealer that stocks a lot of Mag lights and accessories (Fry's was one that was mentioned.) And possibly, a police uniform or equipment supplier in your area may carry the Mag branded bulbs or generic equivilant KPR112 bulbs. If there is a store that carries Carley Krypton Star bulbs, the Carley number that would be equivilant would be their 599 bulb.

The Mag-Num Star bulbs could be little more difficult to find in some areas, but not impossible, and the Carley Xenon Star lamps would make a suitable equivilant.

And our wonderful vendors probably lose money on the sale even then.

Some have reported good results with a bulb for a 4 cell light in a 5D.
Lifetime will be shorter, of course, but those bulbs are plentiful.
Even a small hardware store ought to have some.

One tack I am looking at is to replace one or more of the D cells with a dummy cell
that can be opened up and contain a first aid kit.

I bought a handful of the 6 cell Xenon ones at Orchard Supply Hardware if you have one near you.

That's where everyone could have been more helpful if we knew where lastdefender was located. That way, both regional and nationwide chains could have been recommended (and possibly even local stores.)

OSH was a San Jose based chain that had stores in the Bay Area, until Sears bought the company. They then expanded and opened stores in Redding, the Central Valley, Fresno, Central Coast, and L.A. but all of the stores would be in California only. Last I heard, Sears was trying to sell Orchard Supply following their merger/buyout with K-Mart.

Opps... I'm is SE Pennsylvania. I'm not sure why that isn't on my profile. I will need to update it at once.

That's pretty close to Streamlight country there :)
I think there's a few people from the PA area that might be able to suggest a local resource, but in the mean time, as I mentioned earlier, the KPR112 bulb from Radio Shack will do the job for you.

I SINCERLY hope that your local RatShak is more like the one that used to be near me in Houston, and less like the two that are approx. 20 minutes N and S of me now!!!

These two are pretty much cellphone stores!!!

You might also try Ace Hardware. They usually are well stock with bulbs of all types.
