What type of LED is this?

Hey guys, I need some help identifying an LED on a circuit. It's the 3 LEDs that are around the black button in the middle. The LED located in the little tunnel on the bottom is a SMD/SMT PLCC2, if that helps for reference.
This is a circuit board out of my car.
If this isn't enough information (i.e. size), please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help!

is that out of a nissan? i have no idea what those are, but maybe try contacting calsonic to see what they have to say about it.

Wow, those LED's are tiny! Sorry, but I haven't seen them before. They look oddly like SMD resistors!

Sorry I can't give you any specifics, just an SMD LED, they use them a lot on membrane-switch keypads and such where there is very little clearance (to light up the membrane "lettering" or whatever above a button, like a number-pad security system for instance). Should be easy to find a similar at Mouser.com, Maplin, or a similar large electronics house in your neck of the woods.

Small SMD LEDs.

Besides that, I don't know much else about them(brand wise, performance wise, etc.).

:welcome:

yeah, it's out of a Nissan, you guys are good:eek:oo:

If I were to measure the LED size, I guess I could get a better idea of what it is. I'm assuming it's the same basic type of LED as the other ones, just smaller.

Thanks for the welcome Gunner!

I've got the same problem too. I'm working on modifying my nissan's led but I'm not sure what size this is. I'm thinking it's a 1206 smt led. Can anyone confirm this?

also, it's just a straight swap or do I have to solder another resistor?

That depends on the LED Vf (forward voltage) for example, if you're going from reds to blue or white, the Vf is higher and you may need to change the resistor. If there are LEDs in series, the total of all the Vfs may become higher than the supply voltage and it won't work.

Sometimes blue LEDs can be very bright and will look okay on the same resistor.
