What's wrong with R17670's in the Olight SR50 ?

Hi,

There's been more than a few posts made about the down side to the Olight SR50 being that it runs on primaries, which would get very expensive.

In another thread I've even asked about a recargable alternative to 2 x CR123's but no one came up with anything. But now I see 4 Sevens have AW R17670s which are 2 x CR123 size. Are these never seen as an option because there's something wrong with them?

Could you run a quark AA head + 2x123 body + 17670? Yet another compatible configuration...

The 17670 has the voltage of one li-ion. Is that enough for the Olight?

If the 17670 fits in the tube, yep. I don't have the ability to try it.

Well there's be 3 of them which has the potential to be 9v... but that would be determined by the carrier / light, so it's not looking good :(

2 primary cells in series gives you 6v. One LiIon 17670 gives you 3.7 (stated. not actual). So you really can't sub 1 liIon for 2 primaries in series unless the light engine is designed to operate under a lower voltage.

Ok so someone should bring out a rechargable with the same form factor but 6v.... there's bound to be a market for it.
