What\'s your favorite \"fantasy\" tool/gadget?

I'm new to the forum and glad I found such a cool place on the Web.

Having lots of fun reading through all the various threads, and learning about everyone's favorite lights and tools.

I was struck by a thought--just for fun, what is everyone's favorite "fantasy" tool/gadget/machine? You know, something that's not real, but should be. Maybe something from sci-fi, or TV, or a movie.

Thanks for indulging me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What's this sonic screwdriver? I never watched "Dr. Who".

Oh, I forgot my favs....

Well, I've got a lot of them, so how about a top-ten list:

10. King Arthur's Excaliber
9. Cherry 2000 companion robot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif
8. Jetson's flying car. I want my flying car. They've been promising it to us since we were kids!
7. Lone Ranger's "can't miss" guns and silver bullets.
6. Thor's hammer. Imagine the can of whoop *** that you can open with this baby! Look out Osama, I'm coming for you now.
5. Time machine (any version--Delorean, Dr Doom's machine from Marvel comics or the original HG Wells version) I'm a sucker for android/robot stories and time travel stories.
4. Star Trek tricorder
3. Batmobile (any version). Chicks dig the car.
2. Iron Man exoskelton suit.
1. Green Lantern ring. With enough will-power and imagination, anything else is possible. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Batman utility belt. Whatever you need, in any situation, you would have it.
You never hear Batman say "Oh, you know what I wish I had?"

Green Lantern Ring would be very cool.

Gun from the Fifth Element.

Re: What\'s your favorite \"fantasy\" tool/gadget?

Was it Bond's TR7 that was a submersable? I'll take one of those please. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: What\'s your favorite \"fantasy\" tool/gadget?

Yeah, I'll go with the Dr. Who theme..
let's see I'd have to maybe go with the Tardis, time machine/transporter/mobile home all in one with enough rooms to store all your other gadgets.
Second would be K-9 kinda like r2-d2 only vaugly dog shaped.
The sonic screwdriver does make the list and is certainly the only pocketable one, no more wishing for the right screwdriver.

Re: What\'s your favorite \"fantasy\" tool/gadget?

I want a sound seeking energy gun for the idiots that drive around with the car stereos that you can hear and "feel" 6 blocks away. God help you if you're next to them.

This gun would "seek" out the sound source and literally fry the system. Another nice option would be the ability to also fry the car's electrical system, leaving them sitting in their dead car.

Re: What\'s your favorite \"fantasy\" tool/gadget?

I think Bond's submersible car was a Lotus Esprit. As for me, i'll have Darth Vader's Death Star TYVM.

Funny you mentioned that. There was a program on Discover chanel few months back about small chip mounted in the car that frequency is related to the VIN number. During high speed chase the chip would be RC activated and car power output would be reduced gradually to the stopping point. Really interesting stuff and I guess it will work quite nicely on your problem as well.

My temporary solution to this is pulling up to teh cars blasting music and letting loose my ambulance air horn. It works wonders. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif

What I want is simple a sebenza, super tool, all my edc gadgets and camera in one little device.

One of those Bulgarian umbrellas (loaded with a powerful tranquilizer, not nerve toxin!) to use on people who hold loud and long cellphone conversations in public /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif

A time dilator/compressor (12 hour nights and 2 hour workdays anyone?).
